Why Nail Bed Length Matters When Choosing Press-On Nails

One of the most overlooked factors when choosing press-on nails is your natural nail bed length. While nail sets come in different lengths, from short to medium, the way it looks once applied can vary significantly from person to person.

For example, a medium almond on one person may appear noticeably longer on someone else.

Likewise, a short square may look even shorter or even balanced, depending entirely on the length of the natural nail bed underneath. This is exactly why understanding your nail beds is so important before choosing your perfect set.

Here's an example of two different nail shapes in comparable lengths: medium almond on the left and short square on the right.

Notice how the shorter natural nail bed allows more of the press-on to extend beyond the fingertip, creating the appearance of added length. On the longer nail bed, more of the press-on is used to cover the natural nail itself, leaving less length visible past the fingertip.

Same nail shape and length, completely different results.

Why a shape and sizing kit is equally important

Photos can only tell part of the story.

A shape that looks perfect online may feel entirely different once it's on your hands. Testing shapes and lengths with a dedicated shape kit beforehand allows you to confidently choose the silhouette that best complements your natural nails, lifestyle, and personal style. Once you find a silhouette that works, use the corresponding sizing kit to find your unique measurements.

It removes the guesswork, and frankly, guesswork has no place in luxury.
